Hello beauties. Christmas is my favorite time of the year and I can’t help but think of how to make it all about Christmas and Christmas colors. Am sure you feel the same way too and that’s why you are reading this post right?
So to start with, there are so many Christmas colors but for this tutorial, we would be working with one of the traditional Christmas colors, red.
So you are thinking of wearing a gorgeous red dress or a red cap on Christmas Eve or an outing with family and friends and you are looking to do a nice makeup to complement your outfit, here are tips on how to create a Christmas look with the traditional Christmas color, red.
The red eyeshadow is one that is very rarely used mostly because so many people don’t know how to use it or they feel it wouldn’t look good.
Well, in other to create a good red eyeshadow look, the first thing is to know the shade of red that would be perfect for your skin tone.
You can learn how to identify your skin tone in my previous post.
Fair skin tone: Coral or pink-hued reds are best for fair skins tones. These shades won’t look over powering.
Medium skin tone: People with this skin tone can work with browner shades of red. Also warm terracotta reds complements the skin pretty well.
Almond/ dark skin tone: People with this skin tone can play around with colors that are not too red or too brown. Colors in between would work for people with brown skin tone.
Now that you know your skin tone and the shades of red for you, how can you use it?
At the upper part of the eyes above the crease, use a darker shade of red to define the eyeshadow.
If you are looking to give the eyeshadow some depth, apply an even darker color on the crease using a brush with a steep or pointed end.
On the eye lid
Apply a lighter shade of eyeshadow on the lids. It can be shimmer or just matte. To give it some more definition, apply more of the color you used for the crease or a black eyeshadow at the outer V of the eyes.
Note here that for this eyeshadow look, the red eyeshadow should not be used alongside a red lipstick. The red eyeshadow should be treated as the main focus of the entire look and every other color especially for the lips should be light and almost invincible.

You can also create magic with a red lipstick and style with your red dress or hat or even shoe.
Again, working with your skin color is key to choosing the right lipstick color for yourself.
Just like the red eyeshadow, red lipsticks should be treated as the main focus of the look.
You can go with gold or ash eyeshadow for your red lipstick or other general colors that can fit into any eye color and outfit. See my post on that here.
So with these, you can go ahead and create christmas looks with the traditional christmas color, red and have a wonderful time while looking super cute.
