Happy Valentine’s Day dearie.

So…. I thought we should talk about the miss use of love, in other words, the misuse of Valentine’s Day (in some way).

What Is Love

The Oxford Learner’s dictionary came like this…

a strong feeling of deep affection for somebody/something, especially a member of your family or a friend

For this post, let’s stick with love for someone.

Love is definitely a feeling for someone.

A feeling that keeps you thinking about that person all day, that makes you feel sweet or important whenever you are around that person.

You always want to be in constant conversation with that person and it can be bad enough that you don’t even get hungry or sleepy while with that person. Lol

The person is who you completely trust with your happiness, pain and everything in between.

You lie down and you find yourself lost in thoughts, thinking about the person and smiling at sweet words the person said to you.

Of course you are ready to fight the world just to be with that person and you are willing to go through stress, pain, and probably worse to make the person happy and to be with the person.

And it goes on like that…

Am sure you get the gist 😁

Please feel free to help me describe the feeling better in the comment section.

Let’s glance through what the bible says shall we?..

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs

No matter how we decide to look at it, I am of the impression that the bible remains the best guide for love.

Without much talk, let’s talk about how love is being misused.

How People Misuse Love

Now that we have looked at what love is from a small aspect, let’s look at how people misuse it.

When I say misuse, I mean how people use the word wrongly for selfish reasons, for fear of hurting someone and so many other reasons.

Let’s look at at these few but very common examples of how love has been misused.

Let’s say a close friend of yours opens up to you about his/her feelings and tells you “I love you ” and because you do not wish to hurt that person’s feeling, you tell the person that you feel same way, love have been misused here.

So many people profess love to someone because they admire one part of the person, like the size of the bust, the ass, the person’s skin color or the legs.

That is a huge misuse of love because if anything happens to that favourite part, the love will no longer be there.

Some others that have been in a relationship for too long feel obligated to continue professing love to the partner cos of the fear of hurting him/her, and probably because of what people would say or do.

Love is being misused here.

A good number of people remain in a relationship for the sexual pleasures or what you can benefit from the person like money and other stuffs.

Love is grossly being misused again.

The list of ways love is misused is endless.

Let me stop here cos I know you are itching to contribute to the topic.

So what is your definition of Love?

I would love to hear more from you on how love is being misused.
